SECRETBOOK WRITING GUIDE
AI story generator for short fiction and new scenes
A short story works best when it has a focused conflict and a meaningful change. Use SecretBook to explore a story idea, create an opening or develop a scene from a writing prompt. Specify whether you want a self-contained short story or the start of a longer project so the draft has the right scope.
How to get a useful first draft
- Choose a character, a situation and something that disrupts the ordinary day. State the genre, viewpoint and language you want.
- Describe the scene or story boundary. Ask for a complete short-story arc when you need an ending, or an unresolved opening when you plan to continue.
- Read the generated draft for cause and effect. Revise the central choice, add your own next instruction or compare the suggested directions before extending it.
A prompt you can adapt
Write a short mystery about a night-shift baker whose deliveries contain notes predicting tomorrow’s weather. The final delivery contradicts every previous note. Focus on one evening and make the baker’s choice change the outcome.
Check that the strange delivery creates a specific problem and that the ending follows from the baker’s decision. Remove background that does not affect the conflict. If you want to turn it into a novel, use the unresolved questions to plan the next chapter.
Story ideas, prompts and plots serve different purposes
A writing prompt gives you a starting situation. A plot outline connects goals, obstacles and consequences. The story draft turns those decisions into scenes, dialogue and description. Move between these tools when you need a fresh beginning, a stronger structure or a more convincing passage.
Can I start with my own text?
Yes. Paste your opening and explain what should happen next. Keep important character facts and the current scene’s location in your notes. You can guide the continuation directly instead of choosing a suggested direction. A limited free preview is available; account writing uses credits and depends on provider availability.
