How to write
Enter an idea or a draft and start writing. Your manuscript opens in one writing desk, with four next directions and optional settings.
SECRETBOOK WRITING GUIDE
AI novel generator: turn a premise into chapter drafts
A novel needs more than an interesting first sentence. Give SecretBook a protagonist, a goal, a setting and an obstacle to build a useful opening draft. A fantasy novel, romance or mystery can begin with the same planning questions, but each needs its own stakes and pace. You choose which generated passages belong in the manuscript.
How to get a useful first draft
- Describe the main character, what they want and what prevents them from getting it. Add genre, viewpoint and any facts the story must preserve.
- Start the opening chapter and review the generated passage. Keep the details that work and correct names, motivations or setting before continuing.
- Compare the four next directions or enter a specific instruction. Expand the next scene, then move to another chapter when the current scene has reached a useful turning point.
A prompt you can adapt
A mapmaker discovers a street that vanishes whenever she writes its name. Begin a fantasy mystery in third person. Her goal is to find a missing colleague; end the opening scene with a concrete clue, not a solved mystery.
Check whether the opening establishes the mapmaker’s goal, shows the disappearing street through action and leaves a clue that can drive chapter two. If the draft resolves the mystery immediately, ask for a revision of that passage before extending it.
From a novel outline to long-form fiction
Treat the outline as a working plan. Note the major turning points, then draft scenes that change what the protagonist knows or can do. A long novel grows through reviewed chapters; generating a section does not produce a publication-ready book. Keep a short record of names, promises, discoveries and unresolved questions between chapters.
How much should you describe before generating?
Start with the facts that matter to the next scene. A clear objective, a viewpoint character and one source of conflict are more useful than a list of unrelated adjectives. Add your desired language and tone, and say where the passage should stop. You can change the next direction as the story develops.
